The laboratory researchers on the marine research ship are building a seawater cascade filtration system by using Rongbai's WT600L equipped with a YZ25 pump head to control the speed of 200rpm to drive the sample liquid through the filter to filter the seawater microorganisms to a specific pore size membrane, which can be used for Subsequent DNA sequencing. Due to the low shear force, the Rongbo peristaltic pump can greatly reduce the damage to the microorganisms and their effective DNA fragments in the sample solution.

A seawater sample can contain tens of millions of DNA fragments, and the DNA that each species can carry is unique. Alignment of the genetic marker sequences obtained in the sample with DNA sequences in databases of probable species confirms which species the DNA comes from. In addition, eDNA can help monitor species populations and even detect if the area is polluted. Information from such small samples could change the way scientists around the world understand and protect ecosystems.
